Now a lot of the results I wasn't really a big fan of, in fact I think I only got like 2 or 3 matches correct in my predictions so that sucked I guess.
Anyways as always here on Masto's 2 Cents I will be sharing my thoughts and opinions on various topics and this time it's WrestleMania 32. Let's get onto the matches!
Pre- Show Matches
U.S. Championship Match: Kalisto def. Ryback - I'm glad Kalisto was able to retain, he should have a good run maybe even until SummerSlam. Hopefully we'll get a Sin Cara heel turn sometime soon and have a feud with those two luchadors.
Team Total Divas def. Team BAD & Blondes - I really don't give a damn about this match, Paige & Natalya deserves better. Apparently this is Brie's final match so I wish her the best, Nikki also returned and celebrates with her sister's team. Oh and Eva Marie got booed, what do you expect?
The Usos def. The Dudley Boyz - Pointless match. Both teams got nothing to gain after this.
7-Man Ladder Match - Intercontinental Championship:
Zack Ryder Wins
There were some great spots all throughout the match, Sami Zayn diving into the outside by going through in the middle of the ladder, Sin Cara as he was about to fall down he was able to flip and damage the rest of the wrestlers outside, later on he went onto the outside once again this time putting down Stardust as he laid down in a ladder, breaking the ladder in half!
Speaking of Stardust his ring gear was pretty cool, paying tribute to his late father: Dusty Rhodes, yellow polka dots and all! He also had his own ladder filled with yellow polka dots so that was great! He used it as a weapon, similar to what Luke Harper did last year.
My pick for this one was Sami Zayn and he was always close on getting the belt! But it was Zack Motherf*cking Ryder who got the victory by pushing off The Miz!
Some fans were disappointed but me I really am not. I'm pretty sure Ryder's reign won't last that long and I won't even be surprised if he loses the belt to Owens tomorrow on RAW.
But it was great that he finally had his WrestleMania moment after being in WWE already for a decade! He celebrated with his father who came to the ring, pretty cool moment for Zack Daddy!
Chris Jericho def. AJ Styles
A solid match, nothing to complain about in terms of wrestling. They were able to pull off a lot of their signature moves and finishers against each other but in the end Y2J took home the victory by catching Styles who was about to do the Phenomenal Forearm into a Codebreaker, pinning him flat out!
I really wanted AJ to win this one and a lot of people do as well, it sucks that Styles' WrestleMania debut is a loss but whatever. I'm not mad, I'm just disappointed.
Some people are saying that AJ Styles "jobbed" in this match and you're all wrong about that one. If he job then he wouldn't even last 5 minutes but him and Y2J had one helluva match together! He's just paying his dues.
League of Nations def. New Day
Anyway this is just your standard 6 Man Tag Match with The New Day taking on Sheamus,Rusev, and Del Rio representing LoN. Barrett was just managing them.
It was brutal for Xavier Woods, he almost got squashed in there! By the way this is a Non-Title match so it just made the match kinda pointless. League of Nations wins, which I didn't like but whatever.
After that Barrett cut a promo talking about how great they are and shit, like they're the best faction ever and no other group of men can take them down! And boom... surprise! surprise!
We got three Hall of Famers returning to kick some ass! Shawn Michaels,Mick Foley (as Cactus Jack),and Stone Cold Steve Austin and when I was watching that I just marked out like I was a little kid again!
The Legends basically beat the crap outta LoN, Barrett got the worst treatment as he received the Sweet Chin Music,Mandible Claw, and The Stunner! New Day then danced with the legends and even Stone Cold started jiving a little bit, but ended up Stunning Xavier Woods which I expected!
Texas Legends: Stone Cold,HBK,and I guess Cactus Jack all then had a beer and left a great WrestleMania moment!
Brock Lesnar def. Dean Ambrose
I expected to have an ECW feel to this match with both Lesnar & Ambrose going apeshit against each other but it was just a glorified hardcore match with a few chair shots and kendo sticks shots here and there.
We saw Dean pull out the barbed wire baseball bat and the chainsaw given to him by Mick Foley & Terry Funk but he wasn't even able to use them! Not using the chainsaw, I understand but he could've at least entered with it!
I expected these two to go all over the arena just using whatever there is to beat the living hell outta each other but they barely left the ring! There was a moment where Ambrose just started to pile up chairs in the ring, Terry Funk style but it turned on him as he got F5 through those stack of chairs and got pinned.
Now I picked Brock and I'm glad I got one of my predictions right, afterall he is Brock Lesnar who defeated such guys like The Undertaker,Triple H,Kurt Angle,Hulk Hogan,John Cena, and so many more but this match was just pure disappointing to me. This is what a "hardcore" match is on PG, and it SUCKS!
WWE Womens Championship:
Charlotte def. Sasha Banks & Becky Lynch
Speaking of Lita she made her appearance in the match presenting the new belt, which looks just like the WWE World Title only more feminine which looks fine. The entrances were cool too, Sasha Banks entering with her cousin Snoop Dogg and she also wore Eddie Guerrero-styled pants, paying tribute to her inspiration, The Latino Heat. Charlotte on the other hand wore a robe that was made from one of Ric Flair's actual robes, I believe it was the robe that he wore in his "retirement match."
A great match overall. My favorite spot and I'm sure everyone's favorite too was Charlotte's moonsault to the outside hitting both Becky & Sasha! There were also tons of near falls and submissions all throughout this match.
In the end Charlotte took the victory by making Becky tap out to the Figure 8. Sasha tried to stop it but Ric Flair interfered and held her by the feet. I wanted Becky to win but I didn't mind Charlotte winning, or Sasha for that matter.
This could very well be Match of the Night in terms of wrestling! Great performance by the three ladies!
Hell in a Cell:
Undertaker def. Shane McMahon
Alright before we go through the action, let's talk about the entrances for a bit. Shane entered with his three sons, dancing and all. They were also "money" falling in the audience, I don't know if those were true or not but who cares? The Undertaker had an ordinary entrance, nothing too special. Only it has more crazy pyro than a usual RAW entrance.
Onto the match. Easily bump of the year (if there is even such award) goes to that dive from Shane through a table, he didn't even hit The Undertaker and my mouth was just dropped the whole time! He looked like he was dead even but he's fine. The Undertaker then carried him into the ring and tombstones him, ending the match.
Now what will happen? Clearly none of our questions were answered after this match, yes this won't be Undertaker's final Mania which is great but what about Shane? Is he gone in the WWE? Will a brand split happen and will he control SmackDown instead? Hopefully we get answers on RAW.
After the match Shane was sent back to the locker room via stretcher, he managed to give a thumbs up and the crowd cheered, showing their respects.
Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal:
Baron Corbin Wins
We got two big returns from WWE Legends: DDP & Tatanka. Then the big name that made an entrance was well literally big and that is Shaquille O'Neal. I was expecting somebody like Kurt Angle or Samoa Joe but eh, I guess SHAQ is good enough? Also I guess we will see him as a future Hall of Famer now in the celebrity wing...
Another one that kinda shocked me is Baron Corbin, the winner of the match. I guess he is moving up to the main roster now, he had a decent match with Austin Aries just 2 days ago.
There were some funny moments, the forgotten ones Fandango & Damien Sandow stood in front of Shaq & Big Show and got their asses eliminated. Then we got The Social Outcasts having fun and shit but they got their asses whooped by Kane,Corbin, and Mark Henry! Speaking of Mark Henry, he was my pick to win this match but obviously he didn't win.
As Kane was eliminating people, Corbin sneaked right up on him and got him eliminated! Hopefully WWE will actually use Baron Corbin right into the main roster and he won't be a flop like The Ascension or Bo Dallas.
The Rock & John Cena Returns
While doing his promo he was interrupted by The Wyatt Family, who were my picks for the Battle Royal but they weren't even there! Bray & Rock talked for a little bit until The Rock challenged them for a match so Erick Rowan was the chosen one to fight the people's champ.
What a fantastic match it was! Said by no one ever... it broke records by being the fastest Mania match ever, Rock hits Rowan with the Rock Bottom and pinned him under 6 seconds!
And as if The Wyatts weren't buried enough, as they were about to gang up on The Rock, John Cena returns and helped out his former rival! The whole Wyatts were demolished by the golden shovels of Rock & Cena!
JR said that The Wyatts looked strong but I gotta disagree with him, with all due respect. I'm pretty sure this won't lead to nothing, I hope we won't get another Bray vs Cena feud. The Wyatts were defeated by a part-timer and the biggest star of the company, if that wasn't getting buried then I don't know what that is!
Anyways looks like Cena is back in action now, he is looking healthy. The crowd had a neutral reaction when Cena returned and to be honest, I actually marked out... don't kill me Cena haters!
Main Event - WWE World Heavyweight Championship:
Roman Reigns def. Triple H
First off I would like to point out how awesome Triple H's entrance was! Steph was looking gorgeous on that entrance and it has got to be HHH's best Mania entrance in my opinion!
Reigns got a ton of fireworks for his entrance and a ton of boo's as you might expect! The WWE tried to tone down the boo's all throughout this match but the crowd just kept on booing and booing.
The match itself was BORING and it looks like something that you will see on an episode of RAW. Nothing special happened, no returns, any interference, heel turns,or whatsoever. Just a plain straight up wrestling match between the two guys.
The only time the crowd actually popped for Roman Reigns is when he speared Stephanie... yeah it took Reigns to spear a woman for the crowd to cheer for him but after that, they still boo'd him.
Reigns won the match receiving a ton of boo's from the crowd! In fact I saw some tweets that some fans were so angry that they started to leave the arena, that's how bad it was!
In terms of wrestling, this match wasn't that bad. But with the lack of surprises, it turned out to be dull/boring, plus with the predictable outcome you just had one of the worst WrestleMania Main Events in history!
Overall it was a good show, but can't be compared to 30 and 31 that's for sure. The show went downhill with the boring main event in my opinion.
I give this Mania an 8.5/10
