Now this is probably one of the hardest lists I've made so far because there are a tons of masked wrestlers to choose from and counting them all down to 10 is very hard.
So yeah I hope you respect my list and if you don't see the people who aren't in this list, kindly leave a comment below. Thanks and let's get this started!
Player Uno & Kikutaro
Both got very cool and interesting masks. Let's talk about Player Uno first, he's an indie wrestler and is a part of the tag-team; Super Smash Bros with his partner; Player Dos.
Obviously from his name, Player Uno is a gamer when out of the wrestling ring. It's not just his gimmick, he's a real gamer believe it or not!
In fact he even got his own youtube channel where he uploads various gaming videos, go check it out here!
Kikutaro on the other hand is a Japanese wrestler who currently wrestles at AJPW and NOAH. He's got some good matches and his mask is a little bizzarre but cool at the same time!
He's mask is really cool and the combination of the colors are awesome. He wrestled for WCW for 2 years until fully retiring. A personal friend of the original Blitzkrieg; Jack Evans wrestled as Blitzkrieg II for a short time.
Just look at him, you don't wanna meet this guy in a dark alley!
Abyss' old mask (the one pictured above) is more awesome than what he has right now. It made him look like a real threat and very scary guy too. Until today Abyss still wrestles for TNA and my most favorite matches of his was against Sabu.
El Generico was a successful indie wrestler and has been a big star on wherever promotion he went especially in CHIKARA,PWG,ROH,Dragon Gate,Evolve, and TNA where he was huge!
The mask is just simple but there's something about it and his whole character that keeps you hooked with it! Right now Generico removed his mask and wrestles for WWE NXT as Sami Zayn.
His mask is both creepy and awesome! He is best known for his feuds with other masked wrestlers such as Dr. Wagner Jr,Tigre Blanco,Mistico,Ultimo Dragon and Sicodelico Jr.
He would wrestle for CMLL in most of his career where he won the Mexican National Welterweight title and Mexican National Trios title. In August 2011 he quits CMLL and joined Perros del Mal.
Sadly in October 2011, Dr. X was killed while trying to break up a fight.
Hayabusa means Hawk in Japanese and if you look at his mask (and outfit) it really symbolizes hawk in an awesoem way. Hayabusa mainly wrestled for Frontier Martial Arts Wrestling (FMW) but he also found success in other countries especially in the USA.
He is a well known highflyer and probably one of the best Japanese wrestlers to appear in ECW.
In 2001 though Hayabusa suffered a career-ending injury where he tried to do a springboard moonsault but he landed on right on his head forcing him to retire.
Hayabusa (aka Eiji Ezaki) is now a singer. His most recent work was making theme songs for Dragon Gate.
Rey followed the footsteps of his uncle; Rey Mysterio Sr. At the start of his career he mainly wrestled for AAA and then he wrestled in WCW for 5 years becoming a 5 time Cruiserweight Champion of the company.
In 2002 Rey got recruited by WWE and would eventually become one of the company's biggest Mexican stars. Throughout his time there he would become WWE Champion,2x World Heavyweight Champion,2x Intercontinental Champion,4x WWE Tag-Team Champion, and the winner of the 2006 Royal Rumble.
Rey would also be remembered for his various feuds with many other great superstars such as The Undertaker,Eddie Guerrero,Edge,Batista,Chris Jericho, and more.
Just a few days ago as this blog was written, Rey Mysterio's WWE contract has officially expired ending his 13 year stay with the company. Rumors are claiming that he will make his Lucha Underground debut soon.
Kane & Psicosis
Kane made his WWE debut with a mask on as we all know. He was the Big Red Machine and would find success with the gimmick for many years and had some of the best matches with it!
Kane's original mask is really intimidating especially back when he still got his huge physique on. It just matches with everything he does in the ring and you would really shit yourself once your in that ring and the fire comes up!
Although these days WWE doesn't really know what to do with Kane anymore, they put the mask on and off of him many times and the current one he usually wears isn't as awesome as the original one.
And next one is Psicosis. Psicosis is one of the biggest names in Lucha Libre and has one of the coolest masks too! An early version of his mask (seen above) kinda looks like a Power Ranger. The colors are awesome and it makesi t even more awesome because of those highfly moves he does!
Psicosis was best known in WCW where he became the company's 2x Cruiserweight Champion. He also wrestled for WWE,TNA,AAA,and CMLL. Since 2005 he would start to wrestle without the mask on.
La Parka started out in AAA and would then got to WCW where was best known. He wrestled in WCW for 5 years despite not winning any title there he was still a huge star and a crowd favorite. He had feuds with the likes of DDP,Goldberg,Juventud Guerrera, and Eddie Guerrero.
After the company's downfall La Parka would go back to Mexico to wrestle for CMLL for 6 years and then would also hop on various other independent promotions. At almost 50 years old La Parka is still active at wrestling.
In the mid 90's a second La Parka would then make a debut. The original La Parka (Adolfo Tapia) doesn't own any of the trademark or character of La Parka which is why this happened. In 2003 the second La Parka became the official one while Tapia became known as L.A. Park. The two would have a long feud.
Jushin "Thunder" Liger
Throughout his career Liger would find success and fame in NJPW where he won various Junior Heavyweight belts in there! He also found success in other promotions and countries such as in WCW,TNA,ROH,and CMLL.
He is often claimed as the best Junior Heavyweight wrestler and has defeated a bunch of other big names in Japan such as The Great Muta,Riki Choshu,Kuniaki Kobayashi and Tiger Mask. Outside of Japan though he's most well known rival was Owen Hart.
Liger is based off a Japanese anime of the same name. NJPW decided to make another one of these anime type gimmicks because of the success of Tiger Mask.
In 2002 Jushin Liger joined MMA but didn't found too much success there. Currently he still wrestles for different North American promotions, it would be awesome if WWE would recruit him someday or at least get inducted in the company's Hall of Fame!
