Today we take a look at unfortunate men who failed to become a top guy after splitting up with there tag-team partners. They really can't do it alone!
Matt Hardy on the other hand though has been mixed in various feuds and tag-teams. Yes he did win the US and Tag-Team titles on his solo run but that never got him anywhere close to "stardomness" to his brother.
Not only that but while on his solo run,he got released a couple of times due to failing the WWE's wellness policy test. Probably his only memorable feud in his solo run was against Edge involved ex-girlfriend; Lita.
Currently the Hardy Boyz still wrestle (mainly on TNA) and has changed there lives and are now great fathers and husbands. Real happy for them!
(Edge & Christian)
E&C are clearly one of the best tag-teams ever (getting #1 ranking on WWE.com) but when they split up,Edge became a big name that won the World Heavyweight title a couple of times and had great feuds with The Undertaker,John Cena, and Randy Orton.
Christian on the other hand got stuck in mid-card and was even released a few times so he went to TNA which never really got him big. For me his time in TNA was crap.
When Christian did return to WWE,they really did nothing to him and now that he's 40 years old he might not do a lot in the ring anymore. Possibly a one last run before he retires?
How ironic that Mr. Charisma doesn't really got a lot of charisma up in his sleeve anymore.
When the Wild Samoans did retire though,Samu got into another quite successful tag-team with his cousin; Fatu (aka Rikishi.) The Headshrinkers were managed by Afa (Wild Samoan) and later on Capt. Lou Albano as well.
They had some great feuds with the likes of Bam Bam Bigelow and Doink the Clown but when they did split up,Samu didn't last too long in the WWF and was later released having him go back in the indies.
Fatu on the other hand became the dancing big guy we all love; Rikishi!
When they split up though,we all know Scott became a bigger name than his brother Rick. Yes Scott Steiner was out in his prime when he had his push but clearly he had a much better solo career.
Rick Steiner on the other hand was stuck in random weird storylines in WCW,and when WWE finally bought WCW he wasn't one of the talents that got the opportunity to wrestle again in WWE.
Until now Rick Steiner still wrestles on the indies every now and then and has reunited with his brother Scott, becoming tag-team champions in different promotions world wide!
But when they've split up,we all know Booker T went on to become one of the biggest star in the Attitude Era and has held multiple titles and has played all of his gimmicks well!
Stevie Ray on the other hand went onto join the nWo but that really did nothing for him. He just became a jobber and NEVER got close into becoming a big name like his brother.
It was actually quite sad because Stevie Ray was a decent wrestler but I guess that's really what destined for both of the brothers.
(World's Greatest Tag-Team)
But when they did broke up though,Shelton became a much more bigger name than Charlie Haas. Although he never main evented any PPV's he still puts on some excellent matches and has held multiple titles.
Charlie Haas on the other hand became a jobber. He became Hardcore Holly's tag-team partner but there team never got big,he was then put on this gimmick where he copies/imitates other wrestlers!
He essentially became a jobber and when they didn't got anything more for him,he got released.
Nowadays Charlie Haas is doing well in the indies.
Jim "The Anvil" Neidhart
After winning the tag-team titles a couple of times, the Hart Foundation splits up. We all know Bret Hart became the best there is,the best there was,and the best that there ever will be!
Jim Neidhart though? Well he kinda got stuck in the mid-card (eventually become a jobber.)
After there split up Neidhart never won any title and was billed as a "tough brute" like Rusev but he loss a lot of his matches in his solo run.
Even though he feuded with the likes of Ric Flair,no one really cared about him while he was alone and Bret was being a big name. Seems like WWE tried everything for Neidhart but the fans just never cared about him.
He then got back a little bit of the fame when The Hart Foundation got back together, this time as a stable with Owen Hart,British Bulldog, and Brian Pillman.
Jim Neidhart is now retired and his footsteps are being followed on by his daughter; Natalya.
(Men on a Mission)
Anyways Mabel and Mo (along with there manager Oscar) were a decent tag-team when they debut. Men on a Mission became one time tag-team champions but when Mabel got off on his own,Mo got left out.
Mabel became King of the Ring,it was one of his best runs yet in the WWE. Then he also got remembered for his other gimmicks; Viscera and Big Daddy V.
Mo on the other hand though became a jobber when they split up. He never got a title or any memorable match, his solo run was nothing but a waste despite him being a decent wrestler.
Currently Mo (aka Bobby Horne) still appears on wrestling events and wrestles occasionally.
Anyways the Smoking Gunns were loved by the fans (especially when Sunny became there valet!) They became tag-team champions of course but when they split up because of love rivalry (thanks to Sunny.)
We all know Billy became successful after the split up,and became a tag-team sensation again with his new partner; Road Dogg as the New Age Outlaws!
Bart on the other hand got his last run on WWE in the WWF Brawl for All tournament, which is a legitimate boxing tournament back in the 90's. It only happened once and would likely never happen again.
Vince's plan is actually for "Dr. Death" Steve Williams to win the whole tournament because he just made his debut in the WWF at the time and would want him to become as big as "Stone Cold" Steve Austin!
But none of the other competitors knew about this even Dr. Death himself,so when him and Bart Gunn face-off in the semi finals Bart actually defeated Dr. Death making Vince frustrated!
So in the championship of the tournament,Vince actually booked Bart Gunn against a legitimate American heavyweight boxer; Butterbean. Without surprise,Butterbean KO'd Bart Gunn quickly and after that he was released from the company.
I think though even if Bart Gunn loss that match against Dr. Death he would still be a jobber afterall.
So let's talk about The Rockers first. Possibly the best and entertaining high flying tag-team of all time? Yeah. Shawn Michaels and Marty Jannetty's chemistry together is just great!
They won the tag-team champions a lot of times and have feuded with other great tag-teams like Hart Foundation,Demolition,The Barbarians,British Bulldogs, and more!
But like all tag-teams they have to go on there separate ways. Shawn Michaels of course became one of the biggest legends WWE has ever had in history and some even consider him the best wrestler of all time!
Marty Jannetty? Well he sadly became a jobber. Not even getting close to the success of his former tag-team partner,Jannetty was never involved in any memorable match in his solo run and stuck in the low card (not even midcard.) It's actually quite sad because he is a talented wrestler.
Possibly the thing is he lacks charisma unlike HBK did. No one cared about him and you would rarely see people being Marty Jannetty fans.
Marty Jannetty then again was involved in another tag-team with Leif Cassidy (aka Al Snow) and there were called The New Rockers. The team didn't do well unlike it's first carnation and when the team ended,we all know Al Snow became a decent mid-carder and has been cheered by the fans,Jannetty was once again back in being a jobber.
Poor ol' Marty Jannetty. Whenever there's a tag-team broking up fans always see on who would be the Shawn Michaels of that team (the one becoming successful) or on who would be the Marty Jannetty (the least successful one.) Marty Jannetty great but probably will never be as great as Shawn Michaels will ever be.
I'll be taking a break for a few days only and when 2015 finally starts I'll have more blogs up soon!
