"Rowdy" Roddy Piper
Hulkamania wouldn't grow if it wasn't for Hogan's feuds against "Rowdy" Roddy Piper! He is probably the best nemesis of Hulk Hogan and their matches through the years whether it's on WWF or WCW will go on to become classics!
Roddy Piper is also one the best at the mic, he had some of the best promos you can imagine! And his segment Piper's Pit had a lot of memorable moments throughout the years as well!
Piper never won the WWE Championship but he doesn't need to because he is still a great legend. He is however a 1x Intercontinental Champion and won various titles on different NWA Territories.
Piper didn't only had a great wrestling career but on acting as well unlike Hogan, Piper appeared on some great movies and tv shows especially "They Live."
The wrestling universe misses you Roddy Piper. May you still kick ass wherever you are!
Also for those of you saying that "he can't wrestle, he only knows 3 moves!" well just take a look at his matches on Japan and see that the man can go toe to toe with the likes of Antonio Inoki & The Great Muta!
Hogan made wrestling known worldwide, his success in the 80's is what keeps wrestling alive today! Sure he did a lot of dumb stuff through the years but you can't remove the contributions he has done for the business.
Starting out as a heel then slowly became the biggest fan favorites for a long time. Then he shocked everybody as he turned heel again and built the nWo, one of the greatest (if not the greatest) faction of all time!
He is a 6x WWF Champion and 6x WCW Champion. Has been inducted in various Hall of Fames already (although he has been removed into one as you already know.)
But at the end of the day as I said, Hulk Hogan is still the biggest name of pro wrestling and nobody can top the fame that he had, there can be only one Hulk Hogan! So whatcha' gonna do?!
Lou Thesz was a six-time World Champion, most notably as the NWA Champion. If you combine his three reigns as NWA Champion it totals into; 10 years,3 months, and 9 days (3,749 days) it's a feat that nobody has ever beat before and likely no one will ever beat!
He is also credited for inventing a lot of moves that we know today such as; belly to back waistlock suplex (later known as German Suplex),the Lou Thesz Press,STF,and the Powerbomb.
Lou Thesz's wrestling career lasted for over 7 decades! Through the years he had some of the best matches against the likes of Buddy Rogers,Verne Gagne,Rikidozan,Gene Kiniski,The French Angel, and many more!
He has held over 17 championship belts through the years and managed to wrestle until he was 74 years old. His last match was on Japan against his protege; Masahiro Chono.
A lot of young fans may never know who Lou Thesz is but they should as this man is more than just a wrestler. He paved the way for a lot of greats today! Truly one of the best of all time.
Bruno is probably best known for his amazing reign as WWWF Champion able to hold the belt for 2,803 days which is the longest championship reign ever in WWE History! If you will combine it with his second reign that would be a total of 11 Years (4,040 days) of being WWWF Champion! This is also the longest World Champion reign ever in pro wrestling history in general. Something nobody can ever beat that's for sure!
Bruno was the man in the 60's until the mid 80's! He was a huge draw to many events because of his mat-oriented wrestling style mix with brawling & power. Plus he is a very charismatic person as well!
He was able to overcome a lot of challengers that had interest in his belts, guys like John Tolos,Bruiser Brody,Spiros Arion,Ken Patera,Freddie Blassie,Ivan Koloff,Nikolai Volkoff,Billy Graham, and the list goes on!
Bruno also held the tag-team championships in three different occasions with Domenic DeNucci,Tony Marino, and Spiros Arion. He was inducted in WWE Hall of Fame class of 2013.
Also he's still looking good for a man who's 80! You go Bruno!
"Macho Man" Randy Savage
"Macho Man" Randy Savage won 20 championship belts during his great 32 year career! He is a 6x World Champion, most notably a 2x WWF Champion and 4x WCW Champion!
Savage started out young in the business and later on became one of the biggest stars this business could ever had! Also not only he was a great wrestler but a great commentator as well!
He has also headlined multiple PPV's and had some of the best feuds and matches against the likes of Hulk Hogan,Ricky Steamboat,Ric Flair,Ultimate Warrior, etc.
Savage was also good whether portraying a babyface or a heel. He is an all around performer no doubt about that! Also he left a lot of memorable moments as well especially with the late Ms. Elizabeth.
"Macho Man" Randy Savage was certainly a big loss for all of us wrestling fans.
At the No. 5 spot we got Canada's greatest wrestler; Bret Hart! The Hitman started out as an amateur and then got trained by his father; Stu Hart to become a professional wrestler and as they say the rest is history.
Bret has gained an astounding 32 Championship Belts all over the world! He is a seven-time World Champion most notably as a 5x WWF Champion! He was also a 2x WCW Champion and was the first man who was born outside of the US to hold the belt.
He spent more time as WWF Champion more than any other wrestler in the 90's with a total of 654 days as champion. Bret was also the first man to become WWF & WCW Triple Crown Champion.
Bret did not only find success in the US & Canada as he also went on to become successful in other countries like in Japan and various European countries.
For me, Bret Hart is still the best submission master in wrestling!
"Stone Cold" Steve Austin
Austin has held over 21 championships in his career most notably being a 6x WWF Champion,2x Intercontinental Champion, and 4x WWF Tag-Team Champion making him the 5th Triple Crown Champion in the company!
He is also the only man to win the Royal Rumble match on three different occasions!
When Austin came into the WWF as "The Ringmaster" it seemed like he would just be another typical mid-carder but no everything changed when he did that infamous Austin 3:16 promo and thus Stone Cold & The Attitude Era was born!
With "Stone Cold" Steve Austin being the top man on WWF from the late 90s until 2000s the WWF was able to win the Monday Night Wars and buy out WCW. Austin had a lot of memorable moments most notably with his arch-nemesis; Mr. McMahon! His feuds with The Rock and Bret Hart were all memorable a well.
Austin is not only a great entertainer in the ring but very fantastic on the mic as well! His promos are just awesome especially with his memorable catchphrases.
His in-ring career ended in 2003 after suffering an injury which could result to death if not prevented. But that didn't stop him from appearing time-to-time to get the crowd hyped up and still kick some ass with his Stunner!
And that's the bottomline!
In 1990 The Undertaker made his debut on WWF and since then a loyal wrestling legend began his amazing career for over 20 years now in WWE The Undertaker has gained the respect by many wrestlers & fans.
The Undertaker has also been apart of many great moments, feuds, and storylines in WWE history. Such as forming the Ministry of Darkness, becoming The American Badass, and teaming up with his "brother" Kane just to name a few.
Of course his amazing streak at WrestleMania is what made The Undertaker more successful as well, garnering over 21 straight victories on said PPV until being "conquered" by Brock Lesnar on WrestleMania 30.
As they say Hulk Hogan was the face of the Golden Era,Stone Cold on the Attitude Era,and John Cena on the PG Era,and The Undertaker was the Cornerstone of each of those eras.
Whether as The Deadman or The American Badass; The Undertaker remains to be one of the greatest wrestlers of all time and when he does decide to lace up his boots he should be honored with a huge ceremony quite possibly bigger than Ric Flair's retirement farewell.
His career may go rest in peace someday but The Undertaker's legacy will always live on forever!
As commented by IGN "Shawn Michaels was the most athletic, inspired and daring storyteller in the business; raising the bar for the entire industry with each match." To many HBK is the greatest wrestler of all time and I can't blame them he truly was great!
Between 1989 to 2010 HBK headlined WWF PPV's and was able to main event WrestleMania five times earning him one of his many nicknames "Mr. WrestleMania."
He is a four-time World Champion becoming a 3x WWF/E Champion and a former World Heavyweight Champion. He was also a two-time Royal Rumble winner, the 4th Triple Crown Champion of the company, and the very first Grand Slam Champion ever in WWE History!
Michaels started out in AWA and formed the Midnight Rockers tag-team with his childhood friend; Marty Jannetty. They both came to WWF at the same time in 1988 and found success as a tag-team, but when they split up in memorable fashion we obviously knew who became the much bigger superstar of the two.
He was also the co-founder of one of the most notorious and memorable factions ever in wrestling history; "D-Generation X." With DX's help along with other great superstars the WWF was able to win over WCW at the Monday Night Wars.
HBK had a lot of great feuds in his four decade career obviously his best was against Bret Hart having the infamous Montreal Screwjob incident which started a lot of wars between promotions.
He was inducted in the WWE Hall of Fame in 2011.
What more can you ask for? The man is a 16x World Champion an amazing record indeed! For over 40 years Flair has entertained us whether it's on NWA,WCW,WWF,or even TNA.
He is an 8x NWA Champion,6x WCW Champion, and 2x WWF Champion! He was also the first ever WCW Champion and became the first ever WCW Triple Crown Champion and also became a Triple Crown Champion at WWF. He has also held six US Championship belts throughout his career.
All in all he has held over 31 major championships in NWA,WCW,and WWF/E. Also numerous belts on smaller territories and promotions. The amount of championship belts this man has held is just too damn high!
Flair was also a major PPV attraction being able to main event Starrcade a total of 9 times and also he main evented WrestleMania once. He is also the only person so far to be inducted in the WWE HOF twice the first one for his singles career and the second one for his ordeals with The Four Horsemen.
Don't even start me with his memorable feuds! The list of Flair's amazing rivalries never ends whether it's against Dusty Rhodes,Sting,Randy Savage, even the whole nWo you name it! He is also quite possibly the most successful student of Verne Gagne.
Flair had his ups and downs no question about that but he will always remain as the greatest legend this industry could have. He has it all! The wrestling ability, mic talent, and charisma.
Thanks for reading.
