Featuring the most popular luchador of the modern era and the greatest ECW Original!
*Wrestling Skills/Abilities - This is a huge part of the judging here, of course it's just common sense really. A wrestler must do his job well at wrestling in his appropriate/preferred style or role. Whether as a technician, brawler, highflyer, etc.
*Accolades/Accomplishments - The more prestige championship belts they have won, the better! We're also taking a look on other accomplishments such as yearly awards from PWI,inductions in Hall of Fames, and the like.
*Charisma - Whether as a babyface or a heel, the wrestler should be able to get the crowd riled up and get them to watch in the match. I included "mic skills" under this category.
*Drawing Ability - One of the biggest jobs of a pro wrestler is filling up the seats and have as much as eyeballs to watch your show on TV. Selling out arenas & PPV's,drawing thousands of people to tune in, it's all part of the judging!
*Longevity - As long as a wrestler had a career for over at least 10 years will be included here.
*Overall Impact - These includes their legacy in the business and impact as a whole to their countries or even to the entire world! Becoming a "household name" if you will.
Also please take note that I'm solely judging them as WRESTLERS and not as members of our society. Hope that is well and clear.
Another thing I wanna point is that this list is 100% MY OWN OPINION, I know a lot of you will disagree with the rankings but hey, we all got our own opinions on who's who should be in a certain spot so if you like, then tell me in the comments below about your own thoughts & opinions!

The Homicidal. Genocidal. Suicidal. Death Defying Maniac: Sabu!
In my opinion out of all the iconic and great wrestlers that wrestled for ECW, the one man that embodied that whole company is none other than: Sabu!
Sabu was originally trained to be a technical wrestler by his uncle: The Sheik. He first started out at Sheik's promotion: Big Time Wrestling but when he began competing for FMW, that's when he finally chose to do wrestling, the HARDCORE way!
In FMW, he usually teamed up with his uncle or Tiger Jeet Singh in Japanese Death Matches and had feuds with the likes of Atsushi Onita and Tarzan Goto.
Everything changed for Sabu's career though in 1993 where he began wrestling for Extreme Championship Wrestling! In ECW, Sabu innovated so many maneuevers with the usage of various foreign objects from chairs to tables to barbed wire etc. which quickly made him one of the top stars of the promotion!
Some of the most significant moments in Sabu's first run in ECW was winning his first ECW World Title from Terry Funk where he also won the ECW TV Title in a Title vs Title Match. Later on he would headline a show where he would face off Terry Funk and Shane Douglas in a 3 Way Dance for the ECW World Heavyweight Championship!
After being fired by Paul Heyman after no-showing an event for Japan, Sabu had a brief stint in WCW. He was managed by The Sheik and fought guys like Alex Wright and Disco Inferno but nothing really came out of his WCW career. In 1995 he made his comeback to ECW and competed there until the company's demise in 2000.
My all-time favorite thing about Sabu's whole career was his feud and tag-team with Rob Van Dam! Those two never fail to entertain me in their prime and have always put 110% on their matches!
Ever since ECW closed Sabu wrestled for multiple indie promotions such as TNA,JCW,WWA,XPW,NWA,and many more. Even today he still wrestles on indie promotions whether big or small. He also had a short 1 year stint in WWE from 2006 to 2007 wrestling for the company's "ECW brand" and some One Night Stand PPV's.
Many people know Sabu as a great hardcore wrestler but they don't know that he is a decorated champion as well, here are some of his notable accolades:
ECW World Heavyweight (2x),ECW World Tag-Team (3x),ECW World Television,IWGP Jr. Heavyweight,NWA World Heavyweight,WWC Universal,IWF Heavyweight (2x),JCW Heavyweight,XPW World Heavyweight,and 3PW Heavyweight Championships.
Like a lot of people have said, I think Sabu is one of the few wrestlers who really should gain a lot more respect and credit from the fans. He's not just your typical "hardcore wrestler" but an innovative one and will always give his all to every match whichever company he's wrestling for. Thank You Sabu!
Fun Fact: Sabu was originally going to wrestle in America as his real name "Terry Brunk" but later on decided not to as they might confuse him for Terry Funk!

Chris Benoit, oh boy! Has there ever been a much more controversial wrestler than this man? But yes, we'll just let all the bullshit go to the side for now as we are rating them as wrestlers and not as human beings.
What else is there to say about Benoit's wrestling career? The man was truly one of the best all-around wrestlers of the modern era! From NJPW to ECW,WCW, and of course to WWE Benoit has wrestled everywhere and made a huge impact to a lot of other wrestlers, him becoming their inspiration for how talented he was!
Sure he didn't really had the charisma or mic skills (which is why he was mainly kept in the upper midcard) Benoit had all the talent needed to remain being a relevant wrestler in the roster. I never saw a bad match he had in my life, which is impressive in itself.
My personal favorite match of his and I'm sure most of you too is his Triple Threat Match against Shawn Michaels and Triple H for the World Heavyweight Championship!
Speaking of championships, Benoit had his fair share of titles in his career as well. He was a 2x World Champion having held the Big Gold twice. He also won the Intercontinental,World Tag-Team,US,and Light Heavyweight Titles in the WWE. He also held the WCW and ECW Tag-Team Titles,IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Title, and championships in Stampede Wrestling too where he started out his career.
After 21 years of competing in the ring, everything ended because of that travesty in June 2007. A tragic ending to a great wrestler.
"Ravishing" Rick Rude
Death: April 20,1999
Weight: 252 lbs
It's surprising even to this day that a talented man like "Ravishing" Rick Rude NEVER won a World Title in his career! How come?!
Trained by the "Trainer of Champions" Eddie Sharkey, Rick Rude began his career in Mid-Atlantic as a babyface jobber. It wasn't until in 1984 at Memphis Wrestling where the Ravishing persona was born!
Before joining the WWF in 1987, Rude had good runs in different promotions at the time such as in WCCW,Championship Wrestling from Florida, and Jim Crockett Promotions winning singles and tag-team championships in those companies.
One of my personal favorite highlights in Rick Rude's career was his tag-team run with "Raging Bull" Manny Fernandez. The duo called "Awesome Twosome" managed by Paul Jones had a feud with the veteran Wahoo McDaniel. They would later win the NWA World Tag-Team Titles from the Rock N'Roll Express and had fantastic matches together!
Fast forward in 1987 where The Ravishing One made his debut in WWF as the newest member of The Heenan Family! Rude immediately got a push by feuding with one of the top stars at the time: Jake "The Snake" Roberts where Roberts' real life wife even got involved in the storyline. It was such an underrated feud, not only did those two put on good matches but told a great story as well!
Rude would then have a short feud with JYD and later on his biggest feud in the company against The Ultimate Warrior! Rude defeated Warrior at WrestleMania V for the Intercontinental Championship, the only belt he won in the company. I guess that's better than not winning any belt at all *cough* Jake Roberts *cough*
But anyways Rude would drop the belt back to Warrior at SummerSlam of the same year. In 1991 Rude left WWF and went to WCW for the first time. He had matches with the likes of Sting,Nikita Koloff,Ric Flair, and Hiroshi Hase just to name a few. He won the WCW US and International Heavyweight Titles on his first run there.
In 1997 he would have a short stint in ECW and later on returned to the WWF to form one of the most well known factions in all of wrestling: D-Generation X. Thanks to this as well we got one of the most infamous segments in all of wrestling where we saw Rick Rude appear both in WWF and WCW at the same day!
Rick Rude's final run in wrestling was his second return to WCW. He joined the nWo and was the first man to become members of both notorious stables. Rude's second WCW run lasted for 3 years and was forced to retire after suffering a career-ending injury.
Sadly just months after he left the company, he passed away because of heart failure at the young age of 40. According to sources, Rude was planning for a comeback as well before he died.
Whenever people talk about great heels they usually say Mr. McMahon,Roddy Piper,or Freddie Blassie. But Rick Rude often gets overlooked by some fans as I think he is just right on par with some of the best heels ever!
He may have never won a World Title but he will always be remembered as a legend in pro wrestling!
Fun Fact: Rick Rude went in the same high school with fellow wrestlers: Curt Hennig,Barry Darsow,Nikita Koloff,Tom Zenk, and The Berzerker which was Robbinsdale High School!

This man once held 8 Championship Titles ALL AT ONCE! Do I even need to say more?!
Okay in all seriousness though, Great Sasuke is definitely without a doubt one of the greatest Cruiserweights in Puroresu history!
Sasuke founded Michinoku Pro Wrestling, the first indie promotion in Japan to not be based on Tokyo.
He formed a partnership with the WWF and was even scheduled to win a tournament to become the inaugural WWF Light Heavyweight Champion, but since he only wanted to defend the title in Japan and had a few nasty comments about the WWF, he was fired and Taka Michinoku won it instead.
In 1998 Sasuke started off a feud with his biggest rival: Tiger Mask. These two would have multiple matches over the years and never fail to give all they've got every match! In 1999 he won the vacant NWA World Middleweight Championship, a title vacated by another one of his rivals: Ultimo Dragon.
Sasuke also won a plethora of titles all over Japan besides in his own promotion most notably in NJPW,FMW,and Osaka Pro Wrestling. He also won titles in Mexico!
But perhaps The Great Sasuke's "Greatest" accomplishment was becoming the first ever J-Crown Champion in August 1996 where he held 8 different Junior Heavyweight Championships all at once including titles from WWF,NJPW,NWA,CMLL,UWA,WAR,WWA,and Michinoku Pro!
In 2003 Great Sasuke went into politics and became a legislator in Japan. After this, he continued to do pro wrestling and even to this day still wrestles for various indie promotions all over Japan and the USA!
Also shout out to Dirtbike Kid, who got his ass whooped by Great Sasuke! #NeverDisrespectSasuke
Fun Fact: He is the first and only masked politician so far in the world.

After the days of Frank Gotch and George Hackenschmidt were gone, it was "The Golden Greek" Jim Londos who took the top spot and became the biggest draw of the 30's and 40's!
When Londos moved to the USA from Greece he started out doing multiple odd jobs until landing a job in a carnival and that's where he discovered professional wrestling!
His first ring name was a spin of his real name "Christopher Theophelus" where he would often wear overalls entering the ring. Years later he would drop said gimmick and would work under the name "Jim Londos" and as they say the rest is history.
Londos wasn't in the level of being a great technician like Ed Lewis or Lou Thesz was but thanks to his "looks" and huge physique he was able to get over to the fans making him a top draw wherever he goes! Think of him as like the early Hulk Hogan.
The biggest highlight of his career was ending Bronko Nagurski's 520 day reign as World Heavyweight Champion. He would held onto the belt for 9 years and vacated it after he decided to retire in 1946.
Londos was considered a national hero in his home country of Greece and whenever he wrestles there the events would usually draw 100,000 fans! When Londos decided to retire he worked for charities, his favorite one was helping Greek war orphans of WWII. He was honored by both US President: Richard Nixon and King Paul of Greece for his efforts.
Unfortunately the wrestling world loss a one of a kind man in Jim Londos at August 19,1975 after suffering a heart attack.
Fun Fact: He was the first and only Greek wrestler to held the original World Heavyweight Championship.

When people talk about great Mexican wrestling families usually the Guerreros and Rodriguez families come to mind but most people outside of Mexico don't talk about: The Casas family.
The patriarch of the family is retired wrestler and referee: Pepe Casas and all of his sons followed his footsteps, the most successful of them of course and even surpassed his legacy is none other than: Negro Casas!
Negro Casas has been competing in the squared circle since 1979 and even to this day at the age of 56 still wrestles great like he did in his prime! Unlike some "Mexican wrestling legends" Casas is a journeyman. He has wrestled all over the world from different promotions in Mexico to WWF and even NJPW!
Some of Casas' biggest highlights of his career though happened of course in CMLL where he won the CMLL World Middleweight Championship twice,CMLL World Tag-Team Championship 6x,CMLL World Trios Championship, and the CMLL World Welterweight Championship! He also held belts in UWA and IWRG.
Casas also held belts for the NWA such as the World Historic Welterweight and World Welterweight Championships, he had pretty long title reigns with those titles as well.
He competed for the WWF mainly for their "Super Astros" show that features Luchadors and other light heavyweights. He had matches with the likes of Funaki,Dick Togo, and El Hijo del Santo on his stay there.
Speaking of El Hijo del Santo, him and Negro Casas had a long storied feud that lasted for over 2 decades in CMLL! What happens when you put two great 2nd generation wrestlers in a feud? Greatness!
While he isn't as actively competing as he did in his prime, Negro Casas still wrestles these days mainly for CMLL.
Fun Fact: He only wrestled 1 match for AAA and that was winning a 6 man tag-team match with his brothers Felino and Heavy Metal!

If Japan had Rikidozan and Mexico had El Santo then Puerto Rico has Carlos Colon!
There is no doubt about it that Carlos Colon is the biggest name in Puerto Rico's wrestling history, a part of it is because well, he runs the oldest and largest promotion over there: World Wrestling Counsil (WWC.)
Colon's inspiration for wrestling was Antonino Rocca. After his training he started out his career in the US and even wrestled one match for the WWWF back in the 60's, he also wrestled in Canada for a while. Then in 1973 he returned to Puerto Rico and along with Victor Jovica they started WWC.
Carlos Colon is best known for his hardcore style of matches, his best nemesis is none other than Abdullah the Butcher. Their feud in WWC lasted for over 2 decades, mainly for the promotion's biggest title the WWC Universal Heavyweight Championship! Even Colon said it himself "80% of the blood I've shed in the ring is because of Abdullah."
Multiple big names also wrestled for WWC at the time of it's peak such as Ric Flair,Randy Savage,Bruiser Brody, and Stan Hansen whom all Colon faced. In fact he even defeated Ric Flair for the NWA World Title in January 1983 but since this was never aired on TV, the reign was never made official, Flair won the title back 18 days later.
He made a one night only return in WWF back in 1993 to participate in the Royal Rumble. Since then Colon continued to wrestle in WWC and even trained his sons: Carlito & Primo to become pro wrestlers. He actively wrestled until in 2008 when he finally decided to retire but since 2012 has wrestled a few matches mainly for WWC.
Carlos Colon was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2014 by his sons and nephew: Epico. This man is a true Puerto Rican icon and a true veteran of the game. There will never be another Carlos Colon in wrestling!
Fun Fact: He has held the WWC Universal Heavyweight Championship a record 26 times! Nobody's ever beating that!
Birthday: September 20,1958
Weight: 255 lbs
"The Enforcer" Arn Anderson, another great singles and tag-team competitor. What else is there to say about Arn really?
First off he is definitely the most underrated wrestler ever! The man should have been a multiple time World Champion, he's got the wrestling ability and mic skills to become the top guy, but I guess he was overshadowed by Ric Flair.
Arn started off his career in a small promotion called Southeastern Championship Wrestling where he won the tag titles there three times with Mr. Olympia. It wasn't until in 1984 when Arn got his big time in wrestling by becoming an Anderson!
He replaced Gene Anderson as Ole's partner, he was Ole's kayfabe nephew. Arn & Ole became a formidable tag-team in such a short amount of time, quickly becoming NWA National Tag-Team Champions. They had a feud with Rock N'Roll Express and even partake in Starrcade 1985 beating them for the titles. They also beat the team of Wahoo McDaniel & Billy Jack Haynes.
Then in 1985 the biggest highlight of Arn Anderson's career came to be by forming The Four Horsewomen with Ric Flair,Tully Blanchard, and Ole Anderson! For the longest time, The Horsemen dominated the whole wrestling scene in the NWA and at one point all members were champions: Flair (World),Blanchard (TV),and Andersons (Tag-Team) along with JJ Dillon, they were a force to be reckoned with!
The Horsemen have feuded with numerous big names in the NWA such as Dusty Rhodes,Road Warriors,Nikita Koloff, and The Rock N'Roll Express. Then in 1987 Anderson began teaming up with Tully Blanchard and defeated the RNR Express for the NWA World Tag Titles in September 1987.
In 1988 the duo went on to WWF and became "The Brain Busters" as a part of The Heenan Family. The Brain Busters were the ones who ended Demolition's historic reign as WWF World Tag-Team Champions of 478 days! Three months later, they would lose the belts back to Demolition. After two years in the WWF, Anderson went back to NWA, now known as WCW.
Anderson quickly regained momentum when he returned to WCW by winning the NWA World Television Championship. Then in 1991 he formed a tag-team with Larry Zbyszko as "The Enforcers' where they held the WCW World Tag-Team Championships. Anderson would continue to wrestle for WCW until in 1997 when he finally decided to retire competing in the ring.
After retiring, Double A became a road agent for WWE and to this day still has that job, scouting young and talented individuals to become future superstars! He was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2012 as a part of The Four Horsemen!
Fun Fact: Arn had multiple kayfabe relationships with Ole through the years: his son, nephew, cousin, and even brother. But in reality, they're really just good friends, and kinda looked like each other!
Abdullah the Butcher
Birthday: November 2,1936
Weight: 360 lbs
For over half a century, "The Madman from Sudan" Abdullah the Butcher competed in the squared circle all over the world!
Is Abdullah a great technical wrestler like Bret Hart? No. Is he a fantastic highflyer like Rey Mysterio? Obviously not! But he is one of the best (if not the best) hardcore wrestling legend of all time! Yes his style was barbaric and almost caused someone's life but with all that aside, he drew so much people whenever he's on the card!
For the longest time, Abdullah managed to become one of the top draws wherever he wrestles at. USA,Japan,Canada,Mexico,Puerto Rico,India, and even Australia!
In his prime, Abdullah is not just some fat dude but was pretty agile for a man his size. He has fought many different names in pro wrestling for over decades such as Inoki,Hogan,Funk,Dusty,Baba,Von Erichs,Foley, you name it Abby has probably face em!
Abdullah also had multiple great rivals through the years, such as Carlos Colon and Giant Baba but nothing tops his rivalry with Bruiser Brody! The two hardcore legends had many great bloody matches all over the globe and they would always draw huge crowds because they never fail to entertain!
He is also a decorated champion, most notably a 5x WWC Universal Champion,3x WWC Puerto Rican Champion,2x WWC Carribean Heavyweight Champion,PWF Heavyweight Champion,NWF Heavyweight Champion,6x Stampede North American Heavyweight Champion, and many more!
The Butcher started out his career in 1958 and retired in 2011. Like I said earlier, that's half a century of wrestling actively all over the world!
Am I a fan of Abdullah? Not really. I despise the man for what he did to Hannibal and possibly other wrestlers too with his controversial style of wrestling. But I just can't be an ignorant about the fact that he is one of the biggest draws in wrestling and is indeed an iconic name, although he was the one who destroyed his own career.
Fun Fact: There is a One Piece character named "Abdullah" based off the hardcore legend himself. He even carries a fork as a weapon!
Birthday: December 11,1974
From: Chula Vista,California
Weight: 175 lbs
I'll always consider Rey Mysterio as a modern day El Santo! He is the most popular luchador today and is a fan favorite of kids and adults alike, plus talented in the ring too!
Rey started to wrestle at the young age of 14 after being trained by his uncle: Rey Misterio Sr. In his early years, Rey competed for AAA and ECW but it wasn't until in 1996 where he began wrestling for WCW where he really got to shine.
He competed for WCW's Cruiserweight Division and was an instant success thanks to his great in-ring skills and charisma! In WCW Rey managed to become a 6x WCW World Cruiserweight Champion beating guys such as Chris Jericho,Dean Malenko,Juventud Guerrera,Psychosis, and Billy Kidman.
Rey continued to wrestle for WCW until in 2001, at one point he was even unmasked. Besides the Cruiserweight title, he also became a 3x WCW World Tag-Team Champion and a WCW Cruiserweight Tag-Team Champion. When WCW closed he wrestled back in Mexico for a bit before debuting in WWE in 2002 and as they say the rest is history!
Rey donned his mask back on when he wrestled for WWE and quickly had a huge feud just years later with his old rival and friend: Eddie Guerrero! The two had many great matches together and were involved in some heavy storyline. When Eddie sadly passed away, Rey got a big push and became the World Heavyweight Champion although his reign with the title was lackluster in my opinion.
Still it was a great victory for Rey, offering it to his long time deceased friend. Rey continued to wrestle for the WWE until in 2015, in his 14 year run with the WWE besides being a 2x World Heavyweight Champion he was also a 2x Intercontinental,3x Cruiserweight,4x Tag-Team Champion. He even held the WWE World Championship for a short time, he won the belt and loss it the same day to John Cena!
Overall Rey had a great career in the WWE and remains to be one of the top babyfaces of the company, selling out multiple merchandise over the years! Nowadays he is wrestling back in the indies, mainly for Lucha Underground. Only time will tell if this legend will make his return back in WWE!
Fun Fact: He filmed a commercial with Goldberg for Surge soft drink.
