So for the second time around, let's take a look at some of the worst gimmicks in pro wrestling!
Prepare for what will you see is cannot be unseen!
Man Mountain Rock
In 1994, WWF recruited Maxx Payne after a recommendation from his friend Rick Rude. Payne is a quite successful big man from WCW and other indie promotions at the time.
But when he got to WWF all of his intimidating looks were gone and he got known as Man Mountain Rock. He wears some terrible looking outfits (just like this!) and had a guitar with the shape of the old WWF logo.
The gimmick wasn't successful and it didn't last very long.
The Ding Dongs
The Ding Dongs are supposed to be these pizza delivery guys who goes to the ring with huge bells on their head and clang them almost everytime. It's just pretty much a way of annoying the fans which would happen almost everytime they see this tag-team!
According to Herd, he thought The Ding Dongs would attract more children to view WCW but it was a total opposite of what happened. Just remember, pizza + wrestling = disaster!
This won't be the last time you will see on this blog about more crappy gimmicks under the presidency of good ol' Jim Herd.
Kwang the Ninja
But he rarely won matches anyway, Kwang became a jobber and would lose matches to other bigger superstars like Bret Hart,The Undertaker, and Razor Ramon.
His last match was on April 1995 where he lost to Hakushi. Later Rivera would find more success with his new and re-packaged gimmick; Savio Vega.
Throughout most of his time in WWF he would mainly feud with Big Boss Man. But later on Nailz almost got sent to prison himself. Here's the story:
On backstage Wacholz was talking to Vince in his office about some financial dispute but after a few disagreements he knocked Vince off his chair and choked him violently. John Nord (aka The Berzerker) was luckily there and was able to stop Wacholz.
Both sides would end up filing lawsuits to each other but were later dropped by the court.
After his run in the WWF, he wrestled once in WCW as The Prisoner. He loss to Sting.
In 2000 Kevin Wacholz officially retired from wrestling.
In 1994, "The Portuguese Man O'War" Aldo Montoya made his debut. Even though he doesn't look like any Portuguese at all and only wears the country's flag colors.
Montoya didn't achieved much. He only had feuds with Jeff Jarrett and Ted DiBiase but no one remembered them!
Also according to WrestleCrap, his mask looks like a jockstrap which I can now unsee forever!
Aldo Montoya isn't really that inCREDIBLE! (get it? :P)
"Rambo" Greg Gagne
In 1985 Greg's career was slowly going down even further, so AWA decided to put him on this new fresh gimmick where he was known as "Rambo" Greg Gagne. He was paired with Sgt. Slaughter to form this sort of new military gimmick which AWA tried to pursue the fans with.
But it didn't worked. Back in the 80s fans preferred wrestlers with big physiques, Greg was already skinny at this point and didn't do well on the ring anymore. Him and Sgt. Slaughter never won the tag-team belts and their team was scrapped earlier than expected.
The Black Scorpion
In 1990, Ric Flair and Sting had a lengthy long feud and some people are getting tired of it, so WCW (under the presidency of Jim Herd) decided to have this man on as a new feud for Sting!
After a few vignettes showing a mysterious man threatening Sting, it was later revealed that the man is known as The Black Scorpion, who wears this pretty generic wrestling mask that you could probably get cheap on a grocery store or something.
On Starrcade,Sting and The Black Scorpion had their last match. When Sting won it, Scorpion unmasked and it was revealed that the man under the mask afterall was... Ric Flair! So much for a new rivalry eh?
As Grim from GTS would say "WHAT A WASTE!"
Neidhart was re-packaged as a masked wrestler known as "Who" yes that is literally his name! This gimmick's main purpose is for Vince McMahon and Jerry Lawler to have "Who's on First?" jokes and other stupid puns.
Who only lasted for a few months, he was last seen in a Bikini Party on a SummerSlam pre-show.
You gotta feel bad for Jim Neidhart being used nothing more than a comedic relief after his great tag-team run.
"Hole in One" Barry Darsow
He then returned to WCW under a new gimmick where he was a golfer. Most of the time he would come to the ring to challenge his opponents for a golf game, but they would rather attack him than doing so.
He rarely won matches but if he does, he would cheat by using his golf clubs. It didn't last long but Darsow still got some more awful gimmicks in line for him in his second stay on WCW.
Glenn Jacobs is never new on having a fair share of bad gimmicks throughout his wrestling career, he has become a dentist,Diesel's impersonator, and even a big guy dress in red who thinks he can control fire (which became famous as you all know!)
But at the beginning of his career in USWA, Jacobs would wrestle as The Christmas Creature. Here he is dressed in a green suit covered with different Christmas ornaments such as garlands and christmas lights.
The gimmick didn't last that long and I'm sure Jacobs doesn't wanna take a look where he started back!
The Booty Man
When Leslie joined his buddy Hulk Hogan to WCW, he had tons of awful gimmicks and one of the worst is got to be The Booty Man.
As Booty Man, Leslie portrayed this gimmick where he is fascinated/obsessed with butts. He would also wear this weird trunks with his buttcheeks showing off, and to top it all off he makes his way to the ring by shaking his butt to random people!
This gimmick was ended but got exchanged by another terrible one. When The Booty Man had an "accident" he had some sort of amnesia and he forgot what he's name was, so he was then later re-packaged as The Man with No Name. Only in WCW you get to know wrestlers with No Names!
Akeem the African Dream
But then in 1988 a quick turn of events came, WWF decided to re-packaged One Man Gang into Akeem. He would be dressed in tribal African outfits and would speak into very stereotypical African accent.
WWF even decided to make it worst to have Akeem debut in a place where mostly black people live so obviously everything about Akeem was met with criticism.
Akeem never had a big push with this gimmick. He only squashed jobbers and had a short tag-team run with Big Boss Man where they were known as Twin Towers where they feuded with The Mega Powers.
Norman the Lunatic
Norman the Lunatic is a mental hospital patient. He would bring on a giant key around him which is a key for the hospital he was in and that he is permitted to go back there if he did not follow orders.
Norman the Lunatic was managed by Teddy Long (20 years before he comes GM of SmackDown) on his heel run but he would later leave Long and turn babyface, changing his name to Norman the Maniac.
As Norman the Maniac, he mainly feuded with Kevin Sullivan. He would also be able to gain a shot at the NWA World Titlte against Ric Flair but loss the match.
After his run as Norman the Lunatic, Shaw was re-packaged as Trucker Norm still in WCW.
Here he is a truck driver instead and he did this gimmick as a tribute to his late father who used to be a truck driver.
Norman the Lunatic isn't one of the greats of WCW, but he's still quite remembered by many hardcore fans.
Orlando Jordan (Bisexual Wrestler)
But when he made his debut on TNA in 2010 things just turned out pretty ugly fast. Jordan decided to put on his real identity as a bisexual in his new wrestling gimmick, everyone was shocked and his entrance is just so goddamn weird!
The gimmick won't be really too bad if it wasn't for the "delivery" of it. I have nothing against Orlando Jordan being bisexual and all but I think he should have revealed it a little bit more properly than this.
Hopefully we won't see Darren Young doing something like this in the future! Oh boy...
If you're a big fan of the WWE back in the Atttitude Era you've probably heard of the tag-team; The Headbangers. They're a pretty decent tag-team who won the tag titles once.
But in 1999 one of The Headbangers which was Thrasher got injured, Mosh who was left alone for a while got stuck into this tasteless gimmick where he was known as Beaver Cleavage. Just by the name you know this won't be anything good!
Beaver Cleavage is usually seen doing "sexual innuendos" with his "mother" who was played by Madusa (Alundra Blayze) who is gonna be in the HOF this year!
WWE promoting incest relationships? Only in the Attitude Era!
Anyways Beaver Cleavage only lasted for a month but that didn't stop WWE for putting poor Mosh into more humiliating gimmicks.
