With the cancellation of Flo Rida's appearance, SummerSlam became even better as if it wasn't already to begin with! The whole card is stacked and I just genuinely can't wait for it especially for the 4 Big Matches of the night:
Lesnar vs Orton for the first time in a PPV, Ambrose and Ziggler for the WWE Title, the crowning of the first ever WWE Universal Champion between Balor & Rollins, and the PPV re-match between Styles and Cena!
SummerSlam is a pretty hard PPV to predict as well because most of the matches WWE can go either way and even swerve us with some of the results, which makes it an even fun PPV to watch that's for sure.
I won't take this any longer so without further ado, here are my match predictions for SummerSlam 2016!
6 Women's Tag-Team Match:
Becky,Naomi,& Carmella vs Eva,Natalya,&Alexa
So the whole women's roster of SmackDown will be a part of this pointless 6 Women's Tag-Team Match where the babyfaces will take on the heels. Just something you might see on a usual episode of SD really.
Nothing much to look forward here other than what another B.S. will Eva Marie do this time. Maybe she will end up costing her team this match thus having the babyfaces win!
So yeah here's your potential bathroom break match. Unfortunately.
(NOTE: Will this match even be a thing now that Eva Marie is suspended?)
Cesaro vs Sheamus
So this is the first of the Best of Seven series between Cesaro & Sheamus which means we would get at least a month of singles action between these two.... umm okay?
Cesaro won their last two matches so Sheamus will probably end up winning at SummerSlam. Speaking of the last two matches, those are just nullified all of a sudden? Weird.
I know these two are great wrestlers but man if every week all I see them face-off is each other then it would get boring quite fast. I just hope Cesaro is the one coming out at the winning end of this rivalry.
Enzo & Cass vs JeriKO
As much as I love the newly formed entertaining tag-team of Chris Jericho and Kevin Owens "JeriKO" I think Enzo and Big Cass would still come out victorious in this match.
Enzo & Cass being the more experienced tag-team will definitely help them out in their battle against JeriKO, plus I think this whole JeriKO thing won't last long anyway like Y2AJ.
This could all just be leading up to a future Kevin Owens vs Chris Jericho feud as Enzo & Cass will boost up as contenders for the tag-team titles.
The Miz (c) vs Apollo Crews
I like The Miz's arrogant heel character especially with Maryse by his side now but I think it's finally time to drop the IC Belt to someone worthy like Apollo Creed-- err I mean Crews!
I think WWE is really interested in pushing Crews, he's got the looks and in-ring talent to be a top mid-carder so him winning the Intercontinental Title at SummerSlam will definitely be a huge momentum booster for his career!
WWE Tag-Team Championships:
New Day (c) vs The Club
The New Day is the most over tag-team in the WWE right now and they had a good reign with the belts but I think it's finally time to lose them at the hands of The Club at SummerSlam!
Gallows & Anderson are overdue to win the belts and I think they'll be great champs for sure! Plus not having Big E around is really a big factor going in to this match having "ringpostitis" or whatever the Docs called it!
New Day can still get over pretty easily even without the tag titles. Gallows and Anderson can really solidify themselves in the tag-team division if they have those titles around their belts for sure!
Rusev (c) vs Roman Reigns
Well we already saw a long ass match between Rusev and Roman Reigns on RAW at the Go-Home Show episode so expect this match to be short and Rusev successfully defending his title!
Whether it's by a DQ or whatever heel B.S. result happens, I think Rusev should remain the U.S. Champion for now, he is having another dominating reign and I don't think ending it right now is the best time.
Plus Roman Reigns already beat him at RAW so if were going by the WWE ways of booking, then Rusev will definitely win at SummerSlam.
WWE Women's Championship:
Sasha Banks (c) vs Charlotte
Does anyone actually think Charlotte will take her belt back at this point in time? Sasha will obviously win and now that Dana Brooke is out of the equation, it will be much easier for her!
Of course we'll get another great match between two of the best women in WWE right now but I think we all expect The Boss to successfully defend her Women's Championship!
John Cena vs AJ Styles
Although it seems like John Cena would most probably go over in this match, as AJ did on their last one-on-one faceoff I still have hope that AJ Styles would somehow win!
We also gotta remember that John Cena has a losing streak at SummerSlam so that would definitely factor in, I think it would continue for now. Whether Styles will win clean or with help from maybe The Club, I won't mind.
Plus if they want, they can build up Styles as the next challenger for Ambrose's title after he's done with Ziggler. Styles isn't a "young talent" by all means so WWE will want the best out of him while he can still perform phenomenal! (pun obviously intended.)
Also if I'm not mistaken Cena would be taking a little break anyway from WWE after SummerSlam to do other projects so I think Styles winning this match would benefit him more in the long run.
WWE World Championship:
Dean Ambrose (c) vs Dolph Ziggler
I don't hate Dolph Ziggler by any means, I just think his time is up. He's a great wrestler but him being another World Champion is out of the equation. It's time to build up new and fresh talent!
I honestly wanted Bray Wyatt to be in this match instead but whatever, he'll probably interfere and cost Ziggler the match or something like that. If not then a Wyatt interference is still prominent as he has always set his sight for the World Title ever since the draft.
Ambrose was thought off as just a transitional champion but now looks like he's going to have a pretty good reign. I don't think Dolph Ziggler is putting an end to that reign any time soon, especially at SummerSlam.
Brock Lesnar vs Randy Orton
Now this is the spectacle the WWE has been hyping about for months and I think they sold me, it's not the match I'm most excited about in the whole card, but I'm still looking forward to it!
It's the match 15 years in the making as The Beast takes on The Viper! Brock Lesnar fresh from his UFC 200 victory (and suspension lol) facing off the returning 12x World Champion Randy Orton!
This is a hard match to predict. Either men can really win this thing and I've changed my prediction quite a few times but I can only pick one so if I have to choose.... it's Randy Orton! (as you just saw from above.)
If the rumors are true that by the end of 2016 Brock Lesnar is going to be released by the WWE then yeah I definitely think Orton will go over.
Lesnar has a strong record at SummerSlam, since his return in 2012 he defeated Triple H,CM Punk, and John Cena. Just last year he loss to The Undertaker and I think that he will lose again this year.
It won't be an easy win for Randy though, that's for sure. They kept on saying it just only takes 1 RKO to take down Brock but when he did RKO him at RAW, Brock still managed to stand up like it's nothing!
Orton is probably thinking of retiring as well. I won't mind seeing a one last World Title run with Orton, especially with the WWE Championship being on SmackDown.
WWE Universal Championship:
Finn Balor vs Seth Rollins
Last but not the least we got the match I'm most excited about than any match on the whole card, it is of course to crown the first ever WWE Universal Champion: Finn Balor vs Seth Rollins!
This is another match that is a little hard to predict because WWE can really go either way, whatever the result is I won't mind because both men are fantastic workers!
But If I gotta pick only one I guess it would be Seth Rollins. Him being the inaugural WWE Universal Champion will definitely solidify the belt more, Balor has just recently made his debut so I think Rollins will have a bigger impact.
Plus Balor can win the belt in the coming months anyway, a re-match between these two isn't far from happening. I don't think Balor's "momentum" is gonna die and he definitely isn't getting buried.
For fucks sake, the man beat Roman Reigns clean on RAW so Balor being buried is the last thing that is going to happen to him for sure!
Thanks For Reading.
