Cryme Tyme - JTG & Shad Gaspard
So recently we all know that Hulk Hogan was fired after a video of him 8 years ago was released having a racist rant and all. Now that may be a hot topic, I'm not here to talk about that today.

Today were gonna be taking a look at some of wrestling's most racist gimmicks ever! Some of them are even so racist that you cannot believe they actually happened.

Just a quick note, if you're sensitive on this kind of stuff I'd say this blog isn't for you. Also let me go and say quickly that racism is never right so just be kind to everyone okay?

Let's go and take a look at some of pro wrestling's most racist gimmicks ever! Oh dear...

#10
Los Boricuas

Picture
After getting kicked out of The Nation of Domination, Savio Vega formed a stable of his own called; Los Boricuas.

Los Boricuas are basically a Puerto Rican gang which conists of Vega himself along with Miguel Perez,Jesus Castillo, and Jose Estrada Jr. As you can see they are dressed in typical loud clothes.

Also during their backstage segments they can be seen gambling a lot and smoking cigars, just think of any Hispanic stereotype and Los Boricuas have it.

The group mainly feuded with Nation of Domination and Disciples of the Apocalypse in a "gang war storyline" which in itself is also racist. The group didn't last long and soon disbanded.

#9
Chief Jay Strongbow

Picture
Now Chief Jay Strongbow is a respected man in the wrestling business as he is a true legend. He is also considered as one of the best Native American wrestlers ever but... is he really Native American?

The answer is no. In fact; Strongbow is actually Italian but they still gave him the whole Native American gimmick anyway and even had a nickname "Indian Hero" when an ounce of Native blood doesn't even exist in him!

Now there are other successful Native American wrestlers that are actually Natives like; Wahoo McDaniel and Tatanka. Now don't get me wrong, I still respect Chief Jay Strongbow's work but his gimmick is quite racist.

#8
Tiger Ali Singh

Picture
Tiger Ali Singh was one of the clusterfucks back in WWE's Attitude Era.

Now there have been a lot of "rich men" gimmick in wrestling through the years and for the most part, they are successful. Guys like Ted DiBiase,Alberto Del Rio,and JBL are best examples! But some fail miserably, like Tiger Ali Singh.

Singh is basically a rich Indian guy but his gimmick really went too far. As he called the audience "stupid Americans" and told them to do crazy stuff such as getting nude and kiss his feet for money! What the hell?

He also had a "servant" called Babu, whom he would constantly humiliate. Singh is actually the son of Indian wrestling legend; Tiger Jeet Singh. Everyone in India was excited for his debut in the WWF but after finding out what crap they gave him, they raged!

Tiger Ali Singh's gimmick didn't last long and thankfully so! He is also featured in MWC's Top 10 Biggest Busts in WWE History list, which you should check out if you haven't yet. #CheapPlug

The Mexicools

Picture
Now I've talked about The Mexicools before in my Top 10 Worst Tag-Teams list and they're back once again!

So if you don't know yet, The Mexicools are basically three great Luchadors from WCW that were wasted in WWE with this awful racist gimmick.

Psicosis,Juventud Guerrera, and Super Crazy wore these worker outfits and they also came down to the ring with a giant lawnmower. Yeah, seriously. Also during their promos, they usually rant about that they wanna change the system and let the Americans work for the Mexicans!

Damn, these guys would totally kick Donald Trump's ass if they ever encounter him, much to my satisfaction!
Am I going too far there?

#6
Virgil

Picture
Oh yes, now it's time to have the ever-infamous; Virgil on our list!

Virgil is basically the bodyguard for "Million Dollar Man" Ted DiBiase. But he is more than just a bodyguard as he is actually also a servant for DiBiase.

Virgil would constantly take commands from his "boss" such as take bumps from other opponents for the sake of his boss' safety. Not a lot of people probably don't think about it too much before, but as you look back now you really can say "wow, that's kinda racist."

Nowadays Virgil is best known for his non-sense tweets and has even been verified by Twitter! The thing is though, why would someone impersonate Virgil anyway?!
You thought Iron Sheik's tweets are bad? Oh just look at Virgil's!

#5
Saba Simba

Picture
Now in the late 90's, everybody was excited for the return of the powerhouse; Tony Atlas in the WWF! But in the end, what we got is a purely disappointing racist gimmick known as; Saba Simba.

According to the storyline, while on a trip to Africa Tony Atlas found his "roots" and came back to it and then legally changed his name to Saba Simba. Wanna get more racist than that? His outfit is basically a stereotype African tribal outfit with a huge headdress, shield, and spear. His entrance is also a lion's roar and drum sounds!

The rumors were that this is a punishment for Atlas from Vince after some years of drug problems. Whether this is true or not, I think this is the lowest point of Tony Atlas' career! I would take the Black Superman gimmick all day than this shit.

#4
The Gangstas

Picture
This one happened in Smokey Mountain Wrestling under the guidance of Jim Cornette. Meet The Gangstas, the team of New Jack,Mustafa Saed, and D'Lo Brown.

They are basically what you think they are, the typical black gang who used stereotypical black slangs and words as well as the usual bashing of white people here and there. Oh and yes, they do have fried chicken and watermelons during their promos just to make things worst!

Obviously this gimmick got heat and would stay for the company a little bit more longer than it should have. The Gangstas (minus D'Lo) would then go to ECW and New Jack really seemed to live up the gimmick for reals, yikes!

#3
Harlem Heat's Original Gimmick

Picture
Harlem Heat (Stevie Ray & Booker T) are one of the best WCW tag-teams in history but did you know that the original plan for them was really racist?

The original gimmick for Harlem Heat are actually gang prisoners managed by Col. Robert Parker (aka Robert Fuller) As you might expect, they were dressed in orange jumpsuits and were basically convicts.

When they made their debut, the whole arena were nothing but full of booo's and later on the gimmick was scrapped and were later changed into a much lesser racist one.

#2
Muhammad Hassan

Picture
Oh yes, it's now time to talk about the infamous Muhammad Hassan!

So the whole evil Middle Eastern guy gimmick is nothing new, it dates back to the likes of Skandor Akbar and General Adnan but Muhammad Hassan is different, his really got way too far in the wrong time!

Everything that is an stereotypical Arab thing I'm pretty sure Hassan did! Such as praising Allah before his matches and whatnot. He is also managed by Daivari who would also act as his "translator" or something.

Anyways everything went out of hand when Hassan and a few masked men attacked The Undertaker in an episode of SmackDown... that aired the same day when 9/11 happened.

Now I don't feel sorry for Hassan getting fired to be honest, sure he could have been something else bigger but from what I've heard he's got some pretty bad backstage attitude. At one point he even told Sgt. Slaughter that he can be bigger and talented than him, you just don't say that to Sarge or any legend for that matter!

#1
Akeem the African Dream

Picture
So what's the most racist gimmick in my opinion you may ask? It's none other than Akeem the African Dream!

Oh yes, who could forget the day when One Man Gang (a full white guy) found out about his roots as an African-American and started to wear these very stereotype African outfits and would constantly talk in stereotypical black accent. And he's also managed by Slick for added measure.

Also to make things worst, Akeem's debut occurred in a place where black people are the main population so the heat was indeed real!

The most memorable run he had was with Big Boss Man forming The Twin Towers where they took on The Mega Powers. To this day, I'm still scratching my head on why WWE or Vince even thought that this was a good idea?
